Frozen Mufflers for Jeeps

If no weep hole exists, drill a 1/8-inch hole in the rear lower corner of the muffler, no more than one-inch deep. This will provide a weep hole for internal condensation.

This bulletin applies to 2015-2020 Jeep Renegade and 2017-2018 Compass vehicles. The customer might describe a crank/no-start condition in freezing temperatures. This condition might be caused by condensation freezing in the muffler assembly. Check to see if there is a weep hole on the end of the muffler. If no weep hole is found, use a 3mm (1/8-inch) drill to drill a hole no deeper than 1 inch into the bottom corner of the muffler.
